Behind the eyes

This is from a series of small works where I created the abstract background first, then decided how to 'fit in' a hound, and continued to complete the piece.

I painted first what could have been landscape. I painted the hounds face over it and the space between and behind the eyes begged the question "what is he thinking?" I often look at my galgo Espanol and wonder what she is thinking, what is behind those lovely eyes of hers.
